Maccaroni á la Kaufland

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Mediterranean Evening

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

A pretty powerabsorbing day lies behind me. I was learning for my soon occouring test in Multimedia Law 1 and 2. My empty accumulators need to be refreshed before I can go on with it, so it´s likely a great opportunity to cook a tasty dinner. Fortunately my co-inhabitant and Vice-Cuisine Master was present to help me out at a fairly big amount.

Following picture shows the result of our efforts:

Tasty!!!

This relaxed dinner for two would be incomplete without the right kind of musical underpainting. For this reason I recorded this beatiful Spanish Prelude in E Major:

Lágrima (Prelude) (mp3, 128kbit, 1 mb)

Pprelude is composed by Francisco Tarrega

Concentrate on this picture above while listening to Lagrima. You will almost taste the mediterranean culinarities, won´t you :-)

Red Shoe Diaries v0.1

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

After some hard work on songdeveloping (actually I was not that hard working but I hope my bandmates did so) I´m eager to present you the results of our todays rehearsal. The song is based on a chord progression I came up with. It has a nice mellow jazzy feel plus some serious 80s influences due to Sax. I especially love the sax lines. It is definitely a ear worm you won´t get rid of, sorry for that ;-)

Again don´t expect a final song, it is more the Version 0.1 of it, but the hardest step is taken.
We will work on those tiny things like dynamic, expression, feel, groove and faster shred solos :-).
the
The two axes. The right one is mine.

Red Shoe Diaries Version 0.1
(mp3, 128kbit, 3,85 mb)

Btw if you like the chords, they are like this:

Emaj7 __ B/D#__ C#m7__ E/B__ A#m7b5__ Bsus4_ B7

Special thanks to ShredDead from the Racer X Asylum Board, he gives me the idea for this title of the song.

Stop n Go

Monday, July 18th, 2005

Hi World!

New song completed. Well this one is a very special one. It is recorded live in the rehearsal chamber and please don´t expect too much of these following aspects:

    - good sound quality
    - a great mix
    - a tight timing

Sax
the sax´o´phone, no other instrument has more sexappeal I recognized this fact when playing life very often. lol

Stop´n´Go (mp3, 128kbit, 5mb)

This is only kind of an “alpha” version of that song. I will post some further versions of it, and maybe we (the band) get the timing and sound issues solved :-)

Pomme De Terre Gratin

Bluesy Shred-o-Mania

Friday, July 15th, 2005

This song : Blues Mania (mp3, 128kbit, 1,8mb) is taken from the Guitar Techniques Magazin. I must confess it is a total rip off. I have the issue scanned and if you like to have it for studying purposes I can mail it to you.

Rate Info

It is not this hard shown on this Box. It is hard if you have to improvise it this way with all this phrasing, articulation and accuracy. But I learned every note of it and it took weeks of practising to play it as it is.

    PG the Man himself

And this guy (Paul Gilbert) is responsible for this blues o mania. If you don´t know him, he was responsible at a certain degree for the worldwide number one hit:
    “To Be With You”

By the way, his personal website is created and maintained by himself and I find it very amusing and funny. It´s worth a look! And he is writing news in a blog, Unfortunately it is in Japanese language :-(

Images are from Guitar Techniques issue August 2000

Modoc

Album Cover of High Tension Wires
Very nice acoustic piece of music. You can find the original on the “High Tension Wires” Album by Steve Morse.
His Album received a grammy nomination for the best Intrumental Rock Performance in 1989. I like this acoustic song a lot. !!!

Modoc (mp3 128kbit, 1.9mb)

If you want to transcribe it by ear let me tell you that the guitar is tuned to an open E chord.
(e for the first string, b, g#, e, b, e)

Former In Flames

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

One of my interpretations of an original In Flames song called :
Bulletride (mp3 128kbit, 4.2mb)

You´ll find the original song on the remarkable In Flames Album :

Clayman.

I think my cover of it turns out pretty good and it is really useful for using it as a backing track to practise the typical growling and screaming.

The youngest album is this one :
In Flames

Melting Away

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

I recorded this within 3 hours on a day´s morning in February, it instantly came to my mind. If I had more time I would add bass and drums too.
Ibanez PGM500
Above, there is a picture of an Ibanez PGM500 I used one of these to record this clip. Yeah not really, I ´ve lost the picture of the guitar and took the view out of my window instead. Fitting the song´s title Melting Away there is no snow left as you can see.

Unfortunately my Ibanez PGM500 guitar isn´t set up properly, resulting in some tiny stringbuzz and slightly out of tune notes in the clip.
Is anybody there who can set up my guitar correctly?
